According to SOHR, Russian airstrikes in Syria killed 18,066 people, of whom 5,227 were ISIL fighters, 4,870 militants from the Al-Qaeda affiliate al-Nusra Front and other rebel forces and 7,969 civilians. The air strikes occurred in the period between 30 September 2015 and 30 August 2018.[201]

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the start of Russia's aerial campaign in Syria and by 22 August 2018, the Russian Air Force killed more than 86,000 rebels and ISIL fighters.[202]
